Theodore Roosevelt 1858-1919
"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat."
-- Theodore Roosevelt, 26th U.S. President
I believe this quote is a very powerful inspirational quote. The reason why the above quote is powerful is that it directly addresses the human tendency to "play it safe". For those who do not know what i mean, playing it safe is what people do to avoid any sought of risks or at least try. Here is an example, I know a lot of people who want to achieve major things in their lives, e.g. own their dream homes, have their dream income, family, etc. However a lot of them choose to play it safe because they chose not to dare to pursue their dreams and win, only because they are too afraid of failing. Therefore they just choose to remain in their comfort zone never allowing themselves to experience victory nor defeat. Here is a real life example of a friend of mine. (I will leave the name out and refer to him as Mr. Q). Mr. Q has a dream to become a wealthy man so that he can afford to live the life of his dreams. However, Mr. Q felt that it is too much of a risk to pursue such a goal and prefers to stick with his day job because it pays the bills. To my shocking realization, he was willing to give up his dreams and spend the next 30 plus years working at a job(s) that he does not enjoy instead of spending 3-4 years in the pursuit and realization his dream, to become a wealthy person. I hope you understand the lesson behind the above example, you can either choose to dare might things to win glorious triumphs or choose to play it safe and forever only dream about your goal.
